Okay, so I have a couple of kids who love art, in all forms. And, one who thinks he stinks at it. If it's not perfect, Wes doesn't want to do it. I've struggled with how to get him to understand the process is what is important, not creating a masterpiece.
We went to Disney World at the first of February and Wes got extremely interested in theme parks and roller coasters. What almost-13 year old wouldn't?? He watched a documentary on the History Channel about Walt Disney. One on the making of Disney World. Then, he began designing. Theme parks, roller coasters, and so much more began flowing. Page after page of creative writing, drawing and thinking just came. And, he wasn't a bit worried about being perfect, just getting his ideas on paper.
This typifies the learning life to me. Getting a hunger for learning, going for it, reveling in the process, with no thought for what others think about what you love. I pray that I can have that kind of fever for growing every day of my life~because God has created us to be people of passion.
Excuse me~gotta run. Wes has some new coaster ideas he's dying for me to check out.
Welcome!
Come often and share your comments with us. This is just a random collection of ramblings about our family and a mom who is trying to figure out how to live out my faith in a modern day "Noah's Ark" full of husband and kids, dogs and cats, and wonderful stuff that makes up everyday life.
